About the event
Kai Mirchandani is a current high school junior at Palo Alto High School. Kai, along with co-creator Oscar Anderson, started a non-profit organization at his school in 2020 to try and reduce the amount of food waste at his school. After the pandemic hit, schools began to offer free lunch to its students. Because of this new system, food waste became more and more prevalent. Kai and Oscar started off their volunteer-based club by setting up share baskets around the school for students to put uneaten foods. Then, adult volunteers would take these crates of food across the street to the opportunity center, where food is redistributed to those in need. Join us to learn more about Kai, PPP, and food waste in America.
